Price action is best used with “confluent ” evidence, such as a key market level, prior price action even area, or a moving average level. Where the price action signal forms is important, the more you have to back it up as confirmation , the better.

In the above forex training video I discuss the “story” that surrounds the trade setup to begin with. The story is that one of my member’s posted up this setup in the member’s forum and this alerted me to a setup that I otherwise would have missed. The point is that my trading community has grown to such a point that trader’s are interacting with one another and bouncing ideas around and learning from each other, the member's forum has also recently been totally re-vamped with a brand new V-bulletin forum!. We are learning how to find price action setups here instead of being spoon-fed trading signals.

Anything above a 1hr chart is something that I personally look at on the majors pairs. In this video I discuss the more advanced “fakey setup” with simple trend analysis and swing point analysis. I discuss the fakey setup extensively in my trading course. The trend was down in this setup and we had a swing point providing confluence of resistance at 163.79. A member in my forum posted up the large pin bar / fakey reversal that showed rejection of the mentioned resistance level as well as a false break of the inside bar cluster. The confirmed entry for me would have been the close of the pin bar itself, a more conservative entry would have been a break of the low of the mother bar that surrounds the inside bars. This video discussion pin bars reversals and the fakey is for education purposes only, as always.

The truth of forcing the emotion in order to break the emotional control is so important. After being referred to your website from a friend it opened my eyes that I can be involved in the Forex market without having the 5 -10k account my friend plays with. I know that you get this question daily. How much capital do i need to start up for day trading currency?

Hi, In my eyes, the trader knows how much capital he is comfortable trading. That means what he can sleep at night trading and feel comfortable if he was to loose all of it. As forex can be risky if you dont know what your doing, its best to start trading real money in smaller quantities until you become more confident. I think $200 to$500 is actually enought to learn on, you wont get rick overnight, but If you apply price action principles and manage your capital correctly , then you could double that money quite quickly. The idea is that real money will produce real emotions, and a demo account wont do that for you. The sooner you can be confident enought to trade even mirco lots, the more you will learn about real trading emotions etc. Hope this helps.

In this Forex trading lesson, I am going to share with you three of my favorite price action trading strategies; pin bars, inside bars and fakeys. These trading setups are simple yet very powerful, and if you learn to trade them with discipline and patience you will have a very potent Forex trading edge.

Whilst these three setups are my ‘core’ setups, there are many other versions and variations of them that we focus on in our members’ community and advanced price action trading course. However, you can learn some good basics in this article to lay the foundation for future learning. So, without further delay, let’s get this party started…

The pin bar is a staple of the way I trade the Forex market . Tem uma taxa de precisão muito alta nos mercados de tendências e especialmente quando ocorre em um nível confluente. Pin bars can be taken counter trend as well, as long as they are very well defined and protrude significantly from the surrounding price bars, indicating a strong rejection has occurred, and preferably only on the daily chart time frame. See the illustration to the right for an example of a bearish pin bar (1st bar) and a bullish pin bar (2nd bar) —>

In the following chart example we will take a look at pin bars occurring within the context of a trending market; my favorite way to trade them. Also, note that this uptrend began on the back of two bullish pin bars that brought an end to the existing downtrend.

The fakey trading strategy is another bread and butter price action setup. Isso indica a rejeição de um nível importante dentro do mercado. Often times the market will appear to be headed one direction and then reverse, sucking all the amateurs in as the professionals push price back in the opposite direction. The fakey setup can set off some pretty big moves in the Forex market.

As we can see in the illustration to the right, the fakey pattern essentially consists of an inside bar–> configuração seguida por uma quebra falsa da barra interna e depois uma volta traseira dentro de sua faixa. The inside bar is a great trend continuation signal, but it can also be used as a turning point signal. However, the first way to learn how to trade the inside bar strategy is as a continuation signal, so that is what we will focus on here, more info on the inside bar and all the ways to trade it can be found in my advanced price action trading course. As we can see in the illustration to the right, an inside bar is completely contained within the range of–> the previous bar.

In the example below, we are looking at a current (as of this writing) EURUSD inside bar trade setup that has come off to the downside with the existing bearish market momentum. We can see a nice inside bar setup formed just after the market broke down below a key support level, the setup has since come off significantly lower and is still falling towards the next support at 1.2625, as of this writing. Many of our members are in on this trade as we’ve discussed it extensively in both the members forum and the daily member’s commentary.

As you can see from the three examples above, Forex trading does not have to be complicated or involve plastering messy and confusing indicators all over your charts. Once you master a few solid price action setups like the ones above and the others in my Forex trading course, you will be well on your way to becoming a more confident and profitable trader, just remember, mastering these setups will require patience, dedication and discipline.

Hi Nial, as mentioned pin bars, inside bars and fakey is good for daily time frame. Can it still good for 4hr and 1hr time frame.

You can trade them on lower time frames, however I personally don’t go below the 1 hour chart.

Is it possible to see pin bars, inside bars and fakey at the same time in the chart? If yes, how often this happen and what is your interpretation for that?

For the Fakey set up, what would be the maximum number of inside bar (between the mother candle and the final fakey candle) that you d consider?

Seems like 4 inside bars is already a lot, what do you think?

There is no maximum, but each chart/pattern is unique so it’s important to look at the entire context of the chart not just the individual price action pattern to make a decision. If there is 4 or more inside bars as part of the fakey pattern is can be very powerful if the market is trending or if the market is at a major level, but if the market is choppy then it might just continue that sideways grind and the inside bars are less significant. Filter each pattern on a case by case basis and discretion would be applied.

The strategies that you have shared look great but just wondering how am i going to monitor the pattern formation since it is suitable to trade in a longer timeframe? It seems i have to sit in front of the computer for the whole day or even few days just to wait for it to form or else most of the times i will miss out the trade opportunities.

I am reading this article the third time round. Sometimes I can see an inside bar but where the tail of the inside candles protrudes a little outside the mother bar. My question is should i still consider this an inside bar or its not?

descpline is good in trading as mentioned but some times a trader needs to be aggresive in case a good trend is indntified than being conservative which limits profits.

thank you Nial, a fascinating lesson. But I want to ask how to distinguish a pattern is formed an inside bar or a fakey setup, because fakey setup also begins with the inside bar.

There are 2 setups, Inside bar setups and fakey setups. Inside bars are break out patterns, where as the fakey is a “false break” of the actual inside bar break out. Email me fore more info on that.

Just traded the EURJPY pin bar reversal at 0800 GMT (22/11/10) took profit at 3 x risk and then saw the price drop to 5 x risk before consolidating!

We Use a DIFFERENT CHART SERVER – using mt4 for the new york style close charts. This makes only 5 daily bars appear per week, and you will have yoru signals looking like the charts we use. SO, you can trade with who you want, but WE USE DIFFERENT CHARTS, thus why i stress traders have a broker platform and a seperate chart platform to relfect what we do. Nial.

What period would you recommend for the moving averages. What works better with price action? Is moving average necessary with price action?

Price action is best used with “confluent ” evidence, such as a key market level, prior price action even area, or a moving average level. Where the price action signal forms is important, the more you have to back it up as confirmation , the better.

In this Forex trading lesson, I am going to share with you three of my favorite price action trading strategies; pin bars, inside bars and fakeys. These trading setups are simple yet very powerful, and if you learn to trade them with discipline and patience you will have a very potent Forex trading edge.

Whilst these three setups are my ‘core’ setups, there are many other versions and variations of them that we focus on in our members’ community and advanced price action trading course. However, you can learn some good basics in this article to lay the foundation for future learning. So, without further delay, let’s get this party started…

The pin bar is a staple of the way I trade the Forex market . Tem uma taxa de precisão muito alta nos mercados de tendências e especialmente quando ocorre em um nível confluente. Pin bars can be taken counter trend as well, as long as they are very well defined and protrude significantly from the surrounding price bars, indicating a strong rejection has occurred, and preferably only on the daily chart time frame. See the illustration to the right for an example of a bearish pin bar (1st bar) and a bullish pin bar (2nd bar) —>

In the following chart example we will take a look at pin bars occurring within the context of a trending market; my favorite way to trade them. Also, note that this uptrend began on the back of two bullish pin bars that brought an end to the existing downtrend.

The fakey trading strategy is another bread and butter price action setup. Isso indica a rejeição de um nível importante dentro do mercado. Often times the market will appear to be headed one direction and then reverse, sucking all the amateurs in as the professionals push price back in the opposite direction. The fakey setup can set off some pretty big moves in the Forex market.

As we can see in the illustration to the right, the fakey pattern essentially consists of an inside bar–> configuração seguida por uma quebra falsa da barra interna e depois uma volta traseira dentro de sua faixa. The inside bar is a great trend continuation signal, but it can also be used as a turning point signal. However, the first way to learn how to trade the inside bar strategy is as a continuation signal, so that is what we will focus on here, more info on the inside bar and all the ways to trade it can be found in my advanced price action trading course. As we can see in the illustration to the right, an inside bar is completely contained within the range of–> the previous bar.

In the example below, we are looking at a current (as of this writing) EURUSD inside bar trade setup that has come off to the downside with the existing bearish market momentum. We can see a nice inside bar setup formed just after the market broke down below a key support level, the setup has since come off significantly lower and is still falling towards the next support at 1.2625, as of this writing. Many of our members are in on this trade as we’ve discussed it extensively in both the members forum and the daily member’s commentary.

As you can see from the three examples above, Forex trading does not have to be complicated or involve plastering messy and confusing indicators all over your charts. Once you master a few solid price action setups like the ones above and the others in my Forex trading course, you will be well on your way to becoming a more confident and profitable trader, just remember, mastering these setups will require patience, dedication and discipline.

Hi Nial, as mentioned pin bars, inside bars and fakey is good for daily time frame. Can it still good for 4hr and 1hr time frame.

You can trade them on lower time frames, however I personally don’t go below the 1 hour chart.

Is it possible to see pin bars, inside bars and fakey at the same time in the chart? If yes, how often this happen and what is your interpretation for that?

There is no maximum, but each chart/pattern is unique so it’s important to look at the entire context of the chart not just the individual price action pattern to make a decision. If there is 4 or more inside bars as part of the fakey pattern is can be very powerful if the market is trending or if the market is at a major level, but if the market is choppy then it might just continue that sideways grind and the inside bars are less significant. Filter each pattern on a case by case basis and discretion would be applied.

The strategies that you have shared look great but just wondering how am i going to monitor the pattern formation since it is suitable to trade in a longer timeframe? It seems i have to sit in front of the computer for the whole day or even few days just to wait for it to form or else most of the times i will miss out the trade opportunities.

I am reading this article the third time round. Sometimes I can see an inside bar but where the tail of the inside candles protrudes a little outside the mother bar. My question is should i still consider this an inside bar or its not?

There are 2 setups, Inside bar setups and fakey setups. Inside bars are break out patterns, where as the fakey is a “false break” of the actual inside bar break out. Email me fore more info on that.

Just traded the EURJPY pin bar reversal at 0800 GMT (22/11/10) took profit at 3 x risk and then saw the price drop to 5 x risk before consolidating!

We Use a DIFFERENT CHART SERVER – using mt4 for the new york style close charts. This makes only 5 daily bars appear per week, and you will have yoru signals looking like the charts we use. SO, you can trade with who you want, but WE USE DIFFERENT CHARTS, thus why i stress traders have a broker platform and a seperate chart platform to relfect what we do. Nial.

Price action is best used with “confluent ” evidence, such as a key market level, prior price action even area, or a moving average level. Where the price action signal forms is important, the more you have to back it up as confirmation , the better.

Fakey Trading Strategy.

A Fakey Trading Strategy foi popularizada por um comerciante Forex chamado Nial Fuller da Austrália. Não sei se Nial realmente "descobriu" esse padrão de ação de preço, mas ele certamente ajudou a colocá-lo na vanguarda das estratégias de negociação.

É uma estratégia de negociação de swing Forex muito boa porque pode configurar em até mesmo os gráficos de quadros de tempo maiores. Na verdade, é uma ótima idéia persegui-los nos quadros de tempo maior porque você poderia estar pegando o início de um movimento muito grande no preço.

Aqui está uma das cotações da Nial Fuller explicando o poder por trás da configuração comercial do Fakey:

Recent Fakey and Pin Bar Reversal Forex Trade Setups.

I just wanted to point out some nice trades that have formed recently on the EURUSD and GBPUSD. Below are some charts with classic examples of some of my price action trading strategies that I use on the 4 hour and daily charts.

You will notice the clean simple chart, with no indicators (pure price action). The charts show my “fakey setup” and “pin bar reversal setup”. The current market conditions (at the time of writing, November 2010) have been “perfect”. If you can’t make money in the current market then you won’t ever make money, this current trend is a “gift”, so trade it well.

You will also notice that the trade setups resulted in several explosive moves, allowing good profit potential and risk reward ratio. These setups are very simple and logical and have a positive expectancy, occurring often enough to actively trade the daily and 4 hour charts. I have had good success this past month with the fakey and the pin bar, and so I just wanted to share with you some of the trades I made recently…

The chart below shows a daily chart time frame bearish pin bar reversal setup that kicked off a huge trend change. Note how the trend was up prior to the pin bar and then price immediately fell lower after the pin bar formed, and a significant downtrend followed. It doesn’t always happen this way, but pin bars do sometimes mark huge turning points in the market, and this is yet another reason why understanding how to trade them is so important…

The chart below shows a large pin bar sell signal on the 4 hour EURUSD chart which led to a nice move lower and then a fakey setup with a large pin bar as the false break bar. Fakey setups with a pin bar for the false break bar are among my favorite price action setups to trade.

Thanks for this posting. I used your price action methodology on the retracement of the Cable this past Monday morning after the gap down on Sunday. I picked up 170 pips very easily just from applying what I was studying from your course.

So simple and effective. Man’s a genius lol. Love the clear simplicity of the chart, no graphs, wavey lines, straight lines etc. Just pure candles. Keep the info coming.

I am a new trader and am fascinated with your method and with this site. I plan to save up so that I can join as a member. I was wondering, after seeing a post by Ivan, what data feed we need to be using to be seeing the same pins and other setup conditions as you? I have a live micro account on MT4 at present.

The data we use is from fxlite these are free mt4 charts with correct price bars (a 5 day week) and open and close at the correct time. each feed around the world is different, each chart is different, we use these and only use them for free forex charts, not to execute any trades through.

Stupid question i know but, i have to ask it. I usually trade CFDs. Not the forex. until now.

What are the opening times of the New York market and the London opening times in Sydney times.

I have been told a dozen times, but they are all different.

I enjoy your site most and appreciate all input which are genuine, precise and concise in nature. I have tried on smaller time frame (m15,m30 and H1) it works. Looking forward for your reply.

What Ivan is saying is that on checking on the EURUSD on that date, those signals shown on that chart are not the same as what’s showing om my chart? I’m not seeing all those lovely long spike reversals. If I did I would be making money.

I like this method of trading, but if I’m not seeing those signals, what it good for.

I use a different data feed ..closer to the new york close timeframe, thats the difference you see.

I thought you live in Australia like I do, if so do you stay up through the night to trade the 4H setups that happen during NY open?

I often watch the 4 hour charts on major pairs when markets are trending like this. I either stay up, or set alarms every 4 hours etc.

But due to me currently being overseas, the time zone is easier than it would have been in Australia. I will add though, that many of these 4 hour setups occured.

later in the session, which is early morning for Australia, not so bad really.

You have shown some of the pin bars above where next candle has not retraced to 50% of the pin bar ( something you propose in your videos to enter the trade). I understand there are different ways to enter and exit the trade based on personal preference. I am curious , based on your experience, what has worked majority of the cases?

Your setups on daily and weekly are exactely what was missing to my system, which instead is giving me extremely precise targets. As you said this week was very productive. I used eur/usd, gpb/usd and eur/jpy and made a lot of pips on each. I am still in the game watching all 3 pairs since I expect a consistent downmovement before correction.

Thanks nial, I took 2 of those trades, the Eur/usd pin and the GBP/USD double pin/daily fakey, just closed it for 4:1 on risk, fantastic! This is by far the best trading ive ever done and best of all its enjoyable! keep it coming Nial.

Its nice to have some confirmation that Im getting it correct. I think its time to start studying fakeys.
